Many Native American cultures believe that a person is assigned an animal at the time of birth. The Native American symbols of the zodiac and the characteristics of each are interpreted below.

Otter (January 20 – February 19):
The otter is quirky and unusual. Sometimes they are difficult to understand. They have unique ways of looking at things and therefore have problem-solving skills that many don’t.
The otter is brave, honest and friendly.
Wolf (February 20 – March 19):
The wolf is mysterious, passionate and sometimes emotional. They understand things about the world that many don’t understand.
They are good listeners and observers but often remain an enigma to people in their life.
Falcon (March 20 – April 19):
The bottle has a watchful eye and is often a naturally born leader. Just as we look at hawks in the sky, many look at them for direction.
They support, but they don’t give much. At worst, the hawk can be intolerant and impatient.
Beaver (April 20 – May 20):
The beaver is the engineer of the Native American zodiacs. They strategize and make big plans.
They are witty, hardworking and quite bright, but they can also be possessive and nervous.
Cervo (May 21 – June 20):
The deer is fast and challenging. They have a great sense of humor and can laugh at almost anyone.
They are always aware of their surroundings, but deer can also get involved and in a bad mood.
Woodpecker (June 21 – July 21):
Peaks are the most inspiring of the Native American zodiacs. They are empathetic listeners and often do whatever they can to make the world a better place.
They are wonderful parents and tend to be resourceful. The woodpecker is stubborn however, which makes it vulnerable to anger, jealousy, and possessive behavior.
Salmon (July 22 – August 21):
Salmon is an intelligent, creative and electric personality. They are naturally enthusiastic and their love of life is contagious.
They need big goals and goals, otherwise they may find themselves mired in selfish or depressed behavior.
Bear (22 August – 21 September):
The bear is calm and pragmatic, but when pushed, he is a force to be reckoned with.
They are excellent business partners and tend to be the voice of reason in a group of family or friends. The bear is patient and tolerant, but only up to a point.
Raven (September 22 – October 22):
The crow is a natural charmer and a businessman. They are incredibly accurate and know how to get what they need.
They are very sociable, often not appearing too far from a city or a larger city. They are adaptive activities, which they often imitate and consider intelligent.
Snake (October 23 – November 22):
The snake is the most spiritual of all the Native American zodiacs. They are listening to the spirit world here and beyond.
They are respected for their skills in the medical field as well as in the shamanic world.
Owl (November 23 – December 21):
The owl is difficult to define. They are warm and easy going, but are also sometimes tough in battle and ready to go full speed.
They can be so wise yet so reckless.
